Theopolis Institute

As churches face increasing societal and cultural pressure, they seek new ways to train pastors. In addition, seminaries are under financial and ideological pressure to become more inclusive. The popularity of apprenticeships, hybrid training programs, and other alternatives forces some to rethink how they teach.

Theopolis, from two Greek words meaning “God’s city,” is the vision of an organisation that believes that God uses faithful preaching and teaching, vibrant, prosperous, transformative Liturgy, and courageous and dedicated pastoral leadership to shape the church into an image of his heavenly city. Theopolis encourages and equips believers, churches, and pastors to pursue a profound biblical theology that is catholic, liturgical, and culturally aware.

The Institute’s president is Peter Leithart, an American author, minister, and theologian. He is a professor of theology and apologetics at Westminster Seminary California, an adjunct lecturer at New Saint Andrews College, and a visiting scholar at The White Horse Inn. He is also the author of more than 30 books. He is a former ordained teaching elder in the Presbyterian Church in America and was on trial for heresy by his presbytery for his views on the Federal Vision.
